At Well Consulting Group, we believe that the most impactful ministry happens when
deep spiritual formation meets disciplined operational excellence. Our story began not
in a boardroom, but in a small room at Vanderbilt Divinity School.
By a stroke of providential timing, Sherill Clontz and Pat Freudenthal were the only
two students to sign up for a specific Covenant Discipleship group time. That
serendipitous meeting sparked a lifelong friendship and a shared mission to help
leaders and congregations heal, renew, and thrive. Together, we blend the heart of the
Gospel with the precision of high-level leadership, walking alongside you with wisdom,
honesty, and hope.
Sherill brings a rare "dual-lens" perspective to church consulting, grounded in the belief
that lasting renewal begins with honesty, rest, and repair. Before answering the call
to ministry, she was an active lay person in her local congregation and honed her
professional analytical skills in the aerospace and defense sectors. Whether she was
working as a Management Analyst for the Army Materiel Command or as an
Experiment Operations Engineer for McDonnell Douglas Space Systems, Sherill
learned how to navigate complex systems and solve intricate problems.
She has since dedicated decades to the United Methodist Church, serving in diverse
roles from Pastor to District Superintendent across multiple districts in North Alabama.
Her unique background allows her to see a church’s mission through both the eyes of a
seasoned pastor and the mind of an analyst, always prioritizing health over speed and
depth over quick fixes.
The Credentials:
M.Div., Vanderbilt University
MBA, Alabama A&M University
BSBA in Industrial Management, Auburn University
The Personal Side:
Sherill is married to Craig, a retired electrical engineer. They are the proud parents of
three grown children and the exceptionally proud grandparents of four "absolutely
fabulous" grandchildren. (Fair warning: if you ask, she will show you the photos!)
Pat approaches consulting with a teacher’s heart and a superintendent’s vision,
embodying our value of courageous truth with grace. A native of Middle Tennessee,
Pat spent 18 years as a seventh-grade science teacher before sensing a call to ministry
in 1999. This background in education fuels her love for guiding others as they pursue
deep questions and connecting with people of all ages.
Ordained as an Elder in 2007, Pat’s ministry has been defined by service to those on
the margins and leadership within the connection. She spent over a decade in East
Nashville working with individuals facing poverty and marginalization, followed by a
tenure in local church ministry. Most recently, she served for seven years as the Red
River District Superintendent, overseeing a vast area from Nashville to the
Tennessee River. Pat believes that every person possesses sacred worth and that
every day of ministry should include a healthy dose of laughter.
The Credentials:
M.Div., Vanderbilt University
M.Ed., Middle Tennessee State University
B.S., Middle Tennessee State University
The Personal Side: Pat shares her home with two "spoiled" dogs: Gracie Madeline, a
gentle mixed-breed soul, and Harrison Eugene, a Havanese who is convinced that
every lap in the room belongs to him.
